The Jackson County Commission Chairperson
The county commission chairman has a unique role in the county. While serving as the executive for the county, the chairman also organizes and conducts commission meetings. This is a full-time job, allowing the chairman plenty of opportunities to seek out positive ways to impact the county’s citizens.
The chairman ensures that day-to-day county operations are done correctly and efficiently. He also makes sure that the commission, which is the county’s legislative branch, is receiving the information it needs to make important decisions. In cases of a tie, he casts the tiebreaker vote.
The opportunities for the commission chairman to get involved with the community are endless. There is a need for the chairman to constantly correspond with community leaders and boards so that the issues and concerns of the county’s residents are known. An effective chairman would also work together with state and federal leaders to address problems that may not be within the power of the local government to handle.
A strong, positive commission chairman has the ability to benefit the community greatly by building relationships with industries that can bring new jobs to the county. He can keep the roads paved and the trash collected. He can support the schools to provide better education opportunities for our children.
Matthew will do everything he can to make life even better in Jackson County.
